Emily is a delight. She is kind, giving, and she has a great southern accent too. So everything she says is even sweeter. She was going to be in Salt Lake visiting her sister and wanted a one-on-one for bouquets. She was such a pleasure to teach. I was nervous! I hadn't taught much at this point, and I must say that having a good student makes teaching a lot more fun. She was so eager to learn and hear me out on all of my blabber. We had such a great time, and her bouquet turned out incredible.

I love the photos of the behind the scenes, the photos of the creation that goes into the final result. The art of creating, and the process that goes into it has always been so fascinating to me.

I look pretty sloppy in these photos but when I'm creating and working on flowers for weddings, this is usually my state if disarray. I'm usually wearing a comfortable T-shirt, and apron, and comfortable flats. But I don't think I ever get dressed or leave the house without a few pieces of jewelry. Somehow a good piece makes an otherwise really sloppy look feel somewhat put together. I found a Nallik necklace hiding on an Anthro sale rack years ago. It was an orchid petal set under quartz and wrapped in brass. I fell in love with it and wore it day after day, year after year until I finally bought another piece from her beautiful collection.

I have been following her Facebook page since I found the necklace at Anthro, seeing her journey and beautiful pieces pop up in my feed was always a delight. Her pieces are so raw, so natural and simple. She took notice to my frequent likes and comments and wanted to get in touch with me. She sent me this beautiful piece I'm wearing in these photos.

Here I am in my element, wearing exactly what I'd wear on a normal day arranging by myself adorned with a piece of jewelry I'll always hold close to my heart. Thank you Jean!

This day was magical, and one of my favorite days. It was easy going and laid back, and we just created because we wanted to. The colors and theme of everything came together so beautifully with the help of everyone involved, and largely impart due to Sara from Wedding Sparrow. This inspiration was featured on her blog last week, which was so exciting for all of us! A bit about what I said on the blog is below.

“My husband and I have a deep love and appreciation for travel. We save up yearly for at least one adventure where we can spend time together and explore a new place. We traveled to Paris over a year ago and we both fell in love with it. I’ll never forget that moment when we walked up the steps of the metro. The sun was shining, and the first thing I saw was the iconic rooftops. Our shoulders were sore from the backpacks we had been carrying for the past hour, but it was almost as if we didn’t feel it. Our mind was trying to encapsulate every moment and every image. It’s rare when we visit the same place twice, but when we were traveling to Europe again it would have been slightly heart breaking for me if we didn’t go back to the place that really made us fall in love with Europe in the first place. When I was there the first time all I wanted to do was create there. Bring my two loves of traveling and flowers together. So this time, we did just that! Without the help of Sara of Wedding Sparrow we wouldn’t have been able to do it. She has such a beautiful vision and really captured the mood I was hoping for with the styling. The colors are subdued, bringing in the blues and dusty beige shades that feel so iconically Paris. Old romance, and scenes that capture the beauty that Paris is, no Eiffel Tower necessary.”

Cari was a bride I worked with for awhile, and it was always a pleasure. Her color palette changed a few times until we had it just right for what she wanted her wedding day to feel like. The muted palette worked perfectly against the Navy gowns, and the natural backdrop.

When the bride walks into the room to see the final design all set, and she cries happy tears, it's the best feeling in the world.

I think I've said it 100 times, but last year I had THE BEST clients. Really, every single client was such a good match for me to get to work with and Pat and Lizzy were no exception. They were fun with a capital F. At the consultation were fun, they were fun the day before the wedding and the day of. This is the type of couple I wish I could hang out with on the weekends. Loved getting to create florals for their wedding at one of my favorite venues, Red Cliff Ranch.
